What are the structures of building construction
Author:
1. Brick wood structure
The main load-bearing components of this type of house are made of bricks and wood. Vertical load-bearing components such as walls and columns are constructed with bricks, while horizontal load-bearing components such as floor slabs and roof trusses are made of wood. This type of structure has fewer floors and is mostly used for single story houses.
Simply put, it's brick+soil. The load-bearing material is bricks, and the strength of the bricks determines the strength of the walls, which in turn determines the strength of the house. In other words, the quality of bricks to some extent determines the safety factor of you and your family.
2. Brick concrete structure
The walls and columns of the building are constructed with bricks, while the beams, floors, stairs, and roofs are made of reinforced concrete, forming a brick reinforced concrete structure. Simply put, brick concrete structures are supported by a small amount of reinforced concrete and the majority of brick walls.
The "brick" in brick concrete residential buildings refers to a building material of uniform size, as well as other sizes of irregular clay bricks such as hollow bricks.
'Mixed' refers to reinforced concrete fittings made of steel bars, cement, sand and stone, and water in a certain proportion, including floor slabs, lintels, stairs, balconies, eaves, etc. These accessories combined with load-bearing walls made of brick can be called brick concrete structure residences. Due to seismic requirements, brick concrete residential structures are generally found in buildings with five to six floors or less.
3. Reinforced concrete structure
The beams, columns, floors, and foundations of the building are all made of reinforced concrete. Beams, floor slabs, columns, and foundations form a load-bearing frame, hence also known as a frame structure. The wall only serves as a protective barrier and is constructed with bricks. This structure is used in high-rise or large-span building construction.
The structure of brick+reinforced concrete is currently the most reliable structure for mass commercial housing in China. Columns, beams, slabs, stairs, and roofs are made of reinforced concrete, while walls are constructed with bricks or other materials. If you go to buy a house now, the saleswoman will definitely add this sentence - "Our house has good seismic performance and can withstand earthquakes of several levels." This will reassure the buyers.
In reinforced concrete structures, frame structures and shear wall structures can be further subdivided:
a、 Frame structure: The building's load-bearing structure is composed of beams, slabs, and columns, and the walls are only used for separation and insulation purposes.
b、 Shear wall structure: a building load-bearing structure composed of beams, slabs, and walls, with some walls bearing forces within the structure.
Combining the above two subcategories gives rise to frame shear wall structures, frame supported shear wall structures, and so on.
In terms of practicality, frame structures use infill walls, which can facilitate future user decoration and are not subject to many restrictions like brick and concrete structures. Therefore, many consumers prefer to buy houses with frame structures.
4. Steel structure
The load-bearing components of buildings such as beams, columns, and roof trusses are made of steel, while the walls are made of bricks or other materials. This structure is commonly used in large industrial buildings. Suitable for super high-rise buildings such as steel plants, large sports stadiums, etc.
